Query Critique Services

I am now offering query critique services and consultation calls for authors across all genres! I am a publishing professional with nearly a decade of experience, along with a wide breadth of experience, ranging from literary agencies, a big 5 publisher, a children’s catalog/collection development service, and a serialized fiction storytelling app. Throughout the tenure of my publishing career, I have reviewed query letters by the thousands. Along with being an agented writer myself, I believe that I am uniquely positioned to help give the extra nudge that fiction writers need to stand out in the competitive query trenches.

Query Letter Critique – $150 USD

I will review your query letter for key elements such as narrative flow, clarity, voice, presentation, and content, and will send comments via a Word document. I will send additional feedback in an accompanying email and provide overall thoughts on the pitch, particularly where it fits within the current landscape of traditional publishing, if preferred.

This includes 2 additional passes of your revised query letter*

Synopsis Critique – $200 USD

I will review your synopsis for key elements such as narrative flow, clarity, voice, presentation, and content. I will send comments via a Word document, along with an accompanying email that summarizes my overall thoughts on your synopsis.

This includes 2 additional passes of your revised synopsis*

Query Letter Critique + Synopsis Critique – $350 USD

The same services (query + synopsis) rendered, as mentioned above.

First 10 Pages Critique – $400 USD

I will review your first 10 pages and provide an edit letter addressing common storytelling elements such as pacing, plotting, setting, and characterization, along with any relevant, developmental line edits. Lastly, I’ll provide any overarching thoughts on the first ten pages as a whole, and how to potentially position your project within the wider landscape of traditional publishing. The edit letter and any line edits will both be sent via a Word document, and overall thoughts will be sent via an accompanying email.

Query Letter Critique + First 10 Pages Critique – $550 USD

The same services (query + first 10 pages) rendered, as mentioned above.

Query Submission Package (Query Letter Critique + Synopsis Critique + First 10 pages Critique + 30-minute, follow-up consultation call) – $750 USD

This full submission package includes a query letter critique (with 2 additional passes), a synopsis critique (with 2 additional passes), along with an edit letter and any relevant, developmental line edits for your first 10 pages. Also included is a follow-up, 30 minute consultation call to answer questions, discuss edits/notes, and chat about overall positioning of your project in the traditional publishing landscape.

I am now offering 75-minute consultation calls with two tracks (Traditional Publishing 101) and (The Querying Process 101). See below for more details!

Track 1: Traditional Publishing 101

Wonder if traditional publishing is the right fit for you and your book, but don’t know where to begin? I’ll walk you through traditional publishing and what this process is like in this day and age, debunk common misconceptions, break down age group/genre categorization/average word counts & standard manuscript formatting, discuss the advantages of literary agents, and cover important topics such as the differences between a big 5 vs. mid-size vs. indie publisher, unsolicited vs. solicited submissions, what are net vs. list royalties, what is a P&L, what are big box retailers, how advances and book royalties work, and so on (60 minutes). I’ll leave 15 minutes for a general Q&A, at the end of our videocall consultation.

Track 2: The Querying Process 101

Have a manuscript that you feel might be ready to send to literary agents, but overwhelmed at the prospect of entering (or even reentering!) the query trenches? No problem! I’ll walk you through the general process of what to expect, how to find literary agents to query based on genre/age group, how to handle a R&R (revise & resubmit) request from agents, how to prepare for ‘The Call,’ what to do in a multiple offers of representation situation, and so on (60 minutes). I’ll leave 15 minutes for a general Q&A, at the end of our videocall consultation.

Track A: Pitch Critique Only – $300 USD

Planning to participate in an online pitch event (such as #DVPit or QuestPit) on a platform like Twitter or Bluesky and want an extra set of eyes on your pitches before they’re seen by literary agents or acquisitions editors? I’ll take a look at your pitches (up to 3 separate pitches with a 300 character limit for each) to give the extra edge to stand out during the pitch event!

This includes 2 additional rounds of review for your 3 pitches*

Track B: Query Letter Critique + Pitch Critique – $400 USD

The same service rendered above, but also includes a query letter critique!

This includes 2 additional rounds of review for both your pitches and your query letter*

Alina Khawaja, author of MAYA’S LAWS OF LOVE and WRITING MR. RIGHT

“A query is your first and most important opportunity to impress an agent—getting the right help with your query can make all the difference. Eunice’s edits on my query helped me get it into brilliant shape. It received 15 full requests in short order, and I got to pick from 4 excellent offers to find my fabulous agent.”

Damyanti Biswas, Amazon-bestselling author of the BLUE MUMBAI series

“Eunice’s industry expertise guided me through the query trenches and out the other side. Her keen eye helped me pull my query letter and synopsis into shape, which led to me getting 9 full requests and 5 offers of representation! I cannot recommend her services enough.”

Lynn D. Jung, author of MOTHSBLOOD (Bloomsbury, October 2026)

“Over the course of my author career, Eunice’s sharp editorial feedback has helped me improve immeasurably as a writer. Not only does her positivity encourage me in revisions, but her years of experience in publishing means she understands what makes for a compelling and marketable story. When I changed literary agents, Eunice not only helped strengthen the opening pages of my manuscript, but she also helped me craft an outstanding query letter that led to an approximately 50% full request rate, my first offer of representation just one week into the query trenches, and 7 offers of representation total! Any writer at any stage of their career would benefit greatly from Eunice’s insight as a reader, writer, and publishing professional; I cannot recommend her services enough!”

Katie Zhao, bestselling author of THE DRAGON WARRIOR, along with THE FALLEN HERO, the WINNIE ZHENG series, LAST GAMER STANDING, HOW WE FALL APART, THE LIES WE TELL, and the DESCENDANTS OF THE ZODIAC duology

I got my first offer of representation a mere 16 hours after I sent out my first batch of queries, received 18 full requests and subsequently signed with my dream agent, following 3 offers of representation. Publishing is unpredictable, but Eunice’s eyes on my query and her guidance helped make my journey as smooth and as exponential as it could be. She is simply the BEST. With deep industry knowledge and a thriving network of authors, editors, clients, and friends, Eunice has helped me through all of publishing ups and downs. More than just a sharp critiquer, she looks for the forest from the trees—whether it’s your query, your manuscript, or just plain advice, she will be your Virgil. If you choose to work with Eunice, you will not regret it.”

Katie Wu, author of MADDER LAKE (Harper Voyager/HarperCollins, 2027)

“I had never queried before and heard about Eunice’s services from another author. I’m so incredibly glad I contacted her! Eunice has such a keen eye for clarity and word choice to enhance the excitement of the pitch and really get the attention of agents. She was also incredibly generous, giving me advice since I was a newbie to this process and linking me up with helpful resources. I had the wonderfully surreal experience of receiving over 10 full requests and 5 offers of representation! I signed with my amazing agent a little over a month after I started querying, which was thanks to both luck and a query package that did its job. I wholeheartedly recommend Eunice’s services!”

Anela Deen, agented writer of YA SFF fiction

“This is my second time in the query trenches and having had the opportunity to work with Eunice this time around, I wish I had worked with her the first time, since the experience was different as night vs. day. There are few out there who can do what she does, I was truly blown away by her expertise and how she was able to turn my very average query letter into the highly-polished finished product that I sent to literary agents. Her support doesn’t end with just the query letter, she offers invaluable advice along the querying journey. Any time I was unsure about something or had a question, I felt confident in turning to her. Eunice is always wiling to help and to give you as many resources as possible. With her support, I received 9 full requests and 3 offers of representation in under three months! I highly recommend Eunice to anyone heading into the query trenches!”

 – Stephanie Kim Johnson, agented writer of MG & YA fiction

“Jumping into the querying process is daunting but Eunice’s practical and kind advice made it much less intimidating. She provided specific, actionable notes that helped me lock in exactly what I wanted to express to agents and readers. She is a warm and welcoming collaborator who will give you a much-needed shot of confidence when querying!”

– Jillian S., writer of YA contemporary fiction

“Working with Eunice is a joy. You won’t find anyone else as knowledgeable about the publishing industry as her, I guarantee it! She is fast, reliable, and a cheerleader with a wonderfully critical eye. Editing can be a slog and querying can be terrifying, but with Eunice in my corner, not only did she make things fun with her enthusiasm and support, she made me feel secure that I was sending my best product out there to the right people. 10/10, would work with Eunice any day!”

– Mingshu Dong, writer of adult and YA speculative fiction

“Eunice possesses a lot of knowledge about the publishing industry and querying. She is quick to respond and gave me feedback really quickly. Her feedback was constructive and she is great at asking the right questions that made my query a lot stronger, which resulted in several agent requests on my query. She is a great sounding board for ideas and I know I’m in great hands whenever I have a question about writing or publishing. Eunice’s critiques have motivated me to work on my query and opening pages rather than feeling lost and confused, because her feedback gives me great ideas on how to polish my work as best as I can.”

– Gabrielle Dinh, writer of YA speculative and historical fiction

“Eunice has reviewed my manuscripts throughout the course of my career, and her feedback has always been so invaluable to my writing process. With a critical eye and a thorough approach, she offers insights that are both thoughtful and inspiring. My work is always stronger thanks to her input. Working with Eunice has been a privilege, and I highly recommend her to any writer seeking constructive feedback.”

June Hur, New York Times bestselling and Edgar Award-winning author of YA Korean historicals, including A CRANE AMONG WOLVES, THE RED PALACE, THE FOREST OF STOLEN GIRLS, THE SILENCE OF BONES, and BEHIND FIVE WILLOWS

“Though I’ve had the privilege of knowing and working with Eunice for years, it didn’t take long to realize she is one of the most exceptional individuals the publishing community has to offer. An expert in any matters related to traditional publishing, an incredibly sharp reader, and a kind and giving mentor, all who work with her are better off for it. Most recently, I came to her with what I thought was a polished manuscript on my last round before going out on submission. Her developmental notes were immaculate, and her line-level work masterful — notes that I, my agent, and four other beta readers, had not caught on seven rounds of revisions. That manuscript has now been bought by a Penguin Random House imprint!”

– Birukti Tsige, author of TOO PRETTY TO LIE (Viking/PRH)

“Eunice has been my go-to critique reader for years now, and the reason is clear: she has an incredibly sharp editorial eye, industry experience, and thoughtful advice for a writer at any stage of their career. I count myself incredibly lucky to work with her and to benefit from her sage advice. Far from simply an editor, she’s a collaborator. I recommend anyone who feels they need a second opinion on their work, whether a query or a manuscript, to reach out for Eunice’s capable hands. She’ll catch you in an instant and guide you toward the path.

– Taylor Grothe, author of HOLLOW & MONSTROUS BEAUTIFUL THINGS (Peachtree Teen, September 2025 & 2026) and LETHAL KISS (Tor Nightfire/Macmillan, October 2026)

“Eunice is the cheerleading critique partner all of us need! She has helped motivate me throughout writing so many of my books, and has a keen eye for being able to assess the essence of how a story will be viewed by readers, while highlighting key areas for improvement.”

– Julie Abe, author of the critically-acclaimed EVA EVERGREEN, SEMI-MAGICAL WITCH, TESSA MIYATA IS NO HERO, THE CHARMED LIST and OUR CURSED LOVE

“Eunice has been an early reader for both of my manuscripts, a YA fantasy and an adult contemporary romance, and her expertise as both a writer and a publishing professional has been invaluable. She helped me understand how to edit my work, stick to those pesky word counts, but more importantly, she peeled back the ins and outs of the publishing industry for me. Her expert guidance while crafting the perfect query letter helped me land my first literary agent, after I received 9 full requests and 2 offers of representation! Publishing can feel quite isolating so I was extremely grateful that Eunice was there to offer crucial advice during “The Call” and helped me understand which questions would help me choose the right agent for me. My dreams of becoming a published author are closer than I ever could have imagined, and I owe so much of that to Eunice. I could not recommend her services more.”

– E.A. Holz, agented writer of YA SFF & adult romance fiction

“Eunice has been an invaluable resource for all things publishing — she guided me through querying, an R&R, agent offer calls, and my offer decision period. Her wealth of knowledge did wonders for easing my anxieties and I truly couldn’t have asked for a better mentor figure to help me navigate this industry. Anyone would be lucky to work with her!”

Elle Zi Dong, agented writer of YA horror & SFF fiction

“Eunice has been my critique partner for over a decade and has helped me level up my writing. She truly takes the time to not only understand your writing style, but offers solutions that work with your story and not against it. Her feedback has always been encouraging while honest and backed by her years of publishing industry experience, she’s someone you can trust with your work. I know my manuscript is always in good hands when Eunice is reading and that she’ll help me polish my writing until it shines. Highly recommend working with Eunice if you’re ready to take the next step towards publication!”

– Eliza Eun, writer of adult SFF fiction

“It is my absolute pleasure to recommend Eunice as an editor, critique partner, and all-around literary advocate. Her support during the editing stages of my manuscript was nothing short of transformative. With a keen editorial eye and an intuitive understanding of narrative structure, Eunice helped me shape the first chapter of my novel into something far more refined, resonant, and true to the characters I’ve come to love. Eunice’s feedback on my synopsis was equally insightful, balancing clarity with emotional impact, and her edits to my query letter were thoughtful, precise, and deeply appreciated. She brings not only a sharp sense of story and language, but also an unwavering respect for the author’s voice. Her critiques are honest yet encouraging, constructive yet compassionate—always aimed at helping the work reach its highest potential. What struck me most about Eunice was her professionalism paired with genuine enthusiasm. She was not only an editor, but an advocate for my story, cheering it on while also asking the hard, necessary questions. That rare combination of warmth and wisdom makes her an invaluable asset to any writer’s journey. I wholeheartedly recommend Eunice to any author looking for a second pair of eyes, or better yet, a first-rate editorial mind. She is, quite simply, amazing.”

– Rachel M., writer of adult romance fiction
